Organise photos into categories
A gallery of forty photographs in upload order is not a gallery, it is a folder. Categories give it the structure you already keep on disk, and your booking site renders them the same way.
The eight built-in categories
Section titled “The eight built-in categories”Main Hero Shots · Living Room · Sitting Room · Kitchen & Dining · Bedroom · Bathroom · Terrace Sitting · Utilities & Comfort
Your own categories
Section titled “Your own categories”Add your own where the built-ins do not fit - “Rooftop”, “Gym”, “Prayer Room”. They are yours alone, and a category you remove can be added again later.
-
Open the listing’s Photos tab.
-
Pick a category as you upload, or set it on a photo already there.
-
Add a bucket of your own if none fits. It cannot take the name of a built-in.
-
Set the lead photo. It is the one card and search results use.
Photos at the listing-type grain
Section titled “Photos at the listing-type grain”A listing type has its own galleries, with the same buckets its units have. Where every “One Bed Giga View” looks the same, photograph one and hold the photos on the type rather than repeating them per unit.
You can also push a type’s photos down onto its units in one action, when you would rather each unit carried its own copy.
What happens after you upload
Section titled “What happens after you upload”| Step | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| The bytes are screened | A file that is not really an image is rejected at upload, with a reason, rather than becoming a broken tile later. |
| iPhone HEIC is converted in your browser | You can upload straight from a phone; no export step. |
| Resized copies are made | A thumbnail is served as a thumbnail. A 5 MB photograph is never sent into a 74-pixel box. |
| Copies are served from the CDN | Your booking site’s galleries stay fast. |
Where they show up
Section titled “Where they show up”- The listing and its type, in the app.
- Your booking site: property hero, room galleries, search cards, map cards.
- A property with no photographs of its own falls back to its rooms’ photos on the site, so a card is rarely bare - but the fallback is not a substitute for a hero shot.
What’s next
Section titled “What’s next”- Photos - uploading and ordering.
- Listing types.
- What a guest sees, end to end.
