Add and release holds

A hold soft-reserves a unit’s nights while a deal is in flight - the amber striped bar on the calendar with a live countdown. It exists so that the moment a guest commits money, nobody else can be sold the same nights while you verify it.

Holds are owned by the booking funnel - you don’t draw one on the grid. A hold is taken the moment payment proof is recorded on an inquiry: the guest uploads a transfer screenshot on the quote page, or you record the proof yourself. One unit locks for the inquiry’s nights, and the calendar shows it instantly with the time remaining.

To reserve nights for a deal, then, start from the nights themselves: select them on the calendar and start an inquiry; the hold follows as soon as money shows up. To take nights off the market with no guest attached, use a block instead; blocks don’t expire.

A hold always resolves, one of three ways:

  • It converts. You verify the payment and confirm the unit - the hold becomes a confirmed booking and the bar changes to the booking’s own colors.
  • It expires. A hold lasts two hours. If nothing happens, it releases itself and the nights go straight back on sale - no cleanup needed.
  • You release it early. Cancel the inquiry - the dialog asks exactly that: “Cancel this inquiry and release the hold?” - and the nights free immediately.
