Request a payment from a guest

A payment request lives on the inquiry. Stay N Host prepares the message and the quotation link - but you send them, from your own email, SMS, or WhatsApp. The app never messages a guest behind your back, and it never pretends it did.

  1. Quote the stay first. The funnel runs inquiry → quote → advance → lock. A guest pays 100% of the quoted total in advance - there are no partial payments on a new booking.

  2. Open the inquiry and continue to the “Advance” step. Click Mark requested - this records that the ask went out and moves the inquiry to payment requested.

  3. Send it your way. Under “Send the payment request via”, the Email, SMS, and WhatsApp buttons open your own composer, prefilled with the request. A button is disabled (with a hint) when that contact detail is missing from the guest.

  4. Share the quotation link. The same step offers the guest’s quotation link - a private page showing the quote and your bank details, where the guest can also Upload payment confirmation once they’ve transferred. Copy it, or hand off to email/WhatsApp.

The quotation prints the bank account assigned to that property - see Manage bank accounts. The guest transfers the money in their own banking app, then uploads a screenshot or PDF receipt on the link. They can add their name and a transfer reference; they never enter an amount. The upload lands on your Payments board as a proof awaiting verification, and it takes a 2-hour hold on a unit while you check.

The ways you accept money - bank transfer, wallets, cash - are configured once in Settings → Payment channels. A channel that’s switched off never appears when recording a payment.

While an inquiry sits at payment requested or locked, the inquiry page keeps the compose buttons visible as a reminder row - reuse them to nudge the guest. If the money never comes, Cancel and release ends the inquiry and frees the nights.
