Preview the owner and investor portals
When an owner calls about a figure, you want to see what they are looking at - not a different screen that should agree with it. The staff preview puts you in front of their own portal, from your own login, without changing anything.
Open a preview
Section titled “Open a preview”- Go to Partners -> Owner Portal (or Partners -> Investor Portal).
- A Staff preview bar sits at the top: “Choose an owner to see their portal exactly as they see it. Looking changes nothing.”
- Pick the person under Choose an owner (or Choose an investor). The page below becomes their portal, and the bar says whose it is: “You are seeing … ’s portal exactly as they see it. Read-only.”
- Pick someone else to switch, or click Exit preview to leave.
The preview is part of the page’s link, so you can send a colleague straight to the same owner’s view.
What you see, and what you cannot do
Section titled “What you see, and what you cannot do”You see everything the owner or investor sees: for an owner, their month-to-date figures, units, monthly statements, distributions and return; for an investor, their position, performance, statements and payments. The figures are the same reads their own login makes, so if the preview shows a number, that is the number they see.
It is strictly read-only. The one thing an investor can do in their portal - acknowledging a change to their share with “I’ve seen this” - is not offered in a preview, so you can never acknowledge a notice on someone’s behalf.
Who can preview
Section titled “Who can preview”The bar appears for a staff seat that can open both the portal and the matching register: Owners for the owner portal, Investors for the investor portal.
- Owner portal - the External Accountant role opens both, so a seat holding it, on its own or beside another role, can preview any owner.
- Investor portal - a seat needs the Investor role beside a role that opens Investors, such as Admin or Account Manager.
- Most staff roles, Admin included, cannot open the portals on their own, so they see no Owner Portal or Investor Portal tab. Roles are added to a seat on Setup -> Team.
An owner or investor’s own login never sees the bar and can never open anyone else’s portal: naming another person is refused before anything is read.
