Check a guest in

Checking in starts the stay: the status moves to Checked in, the progress rail advances, and the check-out obligations begin. The action lives on the booking’s Overview tab, in the Stay panel.

Screen /bookings/<booking> · Roles: Point of Contact, Booking Manager, Property Manager, Front Desk, Admin · no-show: Guest Manager
  1. Open the booking. From Bookings, or from Today’s check-ins - the KPI tile deep-links to exactly today’s arrivals.

  2. Press “Check in guest”. The button only lights up inside the stay window: before the arrival date it is disabled with the hint “Check-in opens on {date}”.

  3. Double-check the dialog. “Has this guest arrived?” shows the guest’s name, phone, party, stay dates, unit, and reference - check they match the person in front of you, because the confirm button carries the name: Yes, check in {name}.

  4. Done. The status flips, a toast confirms, and the move is stamped on the booking’s History tab.

If the guest never arrives, use Mark no-show in the same Stay panel. A few rules keep it honest:

  • It is only offered once the arrival date has come - never pre-emptively.
  • The dialog warns plainly: “Use this only when the guest never arrived. It closes the booking, this cannot be undone from here.”
  • A no-show is terminal: the booking moves to Past Stays, and any money questions are handled through the Refunds panel that appears on its Overview tab.
