Monthly break-even
Monthly break-even answers one question: which day of the month does profit start? Every month begins in the red - lease rents and other fixed costs are owed whether or not a single guest arrives. As nights are sold, cumulative revenue climbs; the day it crosses the fixed-cost line is your break-even day. Everything after that day is profit.

Reading the page
Section titled “Reading the page”- Break-even day - “Day 14” means the month covered its fixed costs on the 14th. “Not yet” means this month’s fixed costs aren’t covered so far.
- Profit days left - days remaining in the month after break-even; the bigger this number, the more of the month is pure margin.
- Fixed costs (month) - the fixed nut: lease rents plus every expense whose category is marked fixed-behavior. This is why expense categories matter - a fixed cost filed as variable understates the nut and flatters the day.
- Contribution margin - the share of each revenue unit left after variable costs, i.e. what each sold night actually contributes toward the fixed nut.
The Cumulative contribution chart draws the month day by day: the revenue line, the dashed fixed-cost line, and a marker on the crossing day. Below it, Break-even day · last 12 months bars show the trend - lower is better; a bar past day 21 shows red.
Scoping and stepping
